We are a one-on-one tutoring center in the Flatiron District, open since 2016. If you teach a subject well and want to do it with one student at a time, the application is at the bottom of this page and it takes about five minutes.

A degree, and a subject you own
Every tutor here holds a Bachelor’s degree or higher. More important is depth in one thing: the mathematics of the SHSAT, the Reading and Writing section of the digital SAT, Living Environment, elementary reading. We would rather you be excellent at three subjects than passable at ten.
You can teach one child at a time
There are no group classes at GeniusPrep. Every session is private and one-on-one, which means the whole job is reading one student and adjusting on the spot. Classroom experience helps; it is not the same skill.
You are comfortable being measured
After every session you write a report for the parent: what you covered, what improved, what comes next. Families read them. It is the most visible part of the work and it is not optional.
You pass a background check
All tutors are cleared before they work with a student. Our academic program is approved by the New York State Education Department, and the standards that come with that apply to everyone teaching here.

SHSAT
Specialized high school admissions — the busiest season, September to November.
SAT & PSAT/NMSQT
Digital, adaptive, in Bluebook. Both sections.
ACT
Including the science section, which is its own skill.
ISEE & SSAT
Independent school admissions, grades 4 through 11.
Regents
Algebra, Geometry, Living Environment, Chemistry, Physics, ELA and more.
K-12 subjects
Math, reading, writing, science and history, plus homework and study skills.
The practical part
Where
928 Broadway, Suite #1206, New York, NY 10010 — Flatiron, by 14th Street / Union Square (4/5/6/L/N/Q/R/W). Some sessions run remotely by video.
When
Monday to Friday, 2:30–6:30 PM. Saturday, 12:00–4:00 PM. Closed Sunday. Diagnostics run Friday and Saturday by appointment.
Rhythm
Families book per session, with no packages or contracts, so a tutor’s week is built from recurring students rather than fixed shifts. Most families meet once or twice a week.
Pay
Discussed at the interview, and it depends on the subjects you cover and your experience. We are not going to print a range we cannot honour for every candidate.
