Two tools, two questions. The score calculator converts your raw score into the scale score NYSED published for the exact sitting your child took. The curve history answers the other one: how the raw score needed for a 65 has moved from session to session over a decade.

Which one you need depends on the question
Both read the same source — the conversion chart NYSED published for each administration — but they answer opposite questions. Neither one predicts anything about an exam that has not been given.

For every published administration of an exam: the raw points it took to reach 65, the raw points it took to reach 85, and both as a share of that session's raw total — because the size of the exam moves too. NYSED publishes 206 of these charts and no comparison of any kind; this is the comparison.

Every exam has its own calculator page, with the full chart for its most recent administration in the page. 9 of the 11 also have a curve history page: a series drawn over one or two points is not a series, so exams with fewer than 4 published administrations are left out of that column until NYSED publishes more.

A number is a starting point, not a plan
These tools tell you where a score sits. What they cannot tell you is what to do about it — and the gap to a 65 is almost always a small number of raw points, which is a few weeks of work rather than a lost year.
