Global History and Geography II Regents conversion chart — two scores in, one final score out
This exam has no single raw score. NYSED converts it with a two-way chart: your Part I and Part II Score down the side, your Part III Essay Score across the top, and the final examination score where they meet. On the August 2026 administration a 65 took 26 of 35 objective points with an essay of 0, and 11 with an essay of 5 — the same exam, the same sitting, 15 points apart. Pick the exact sitting below; nothing here applies to an exam that has not been given.

There is no chart for an exam that has not been given yet. NYSED publishes the conversion grid for an administration only after that administration has been scored, and the grid genuinely moves between sittings. This tool reads published grids and nothing else. Anyone telling a student what scores will earn a 65 at a future sitting is making it up.

The record, in three numbers
What 17 published Global History and Geography II charts show
26 / 35
Objective points for a 65 with an essay of 0, August 2026
Read from the chart for that administration. Not a target for any other sitting.
11 / 35
The same 65, with an essay of 5
One axis, two answers. This is why a single "raw score to pass" number cannot exist for this exam.
4 of 11
Essay scores from which an 85 is out of reach, August 2026
At an essay score of 0, 0.5, 1 or 1.5, no objective score on the chart — not even a perfect 35 — reaches 85. NYSED's own chart tops out below it.
The full session-by-session record — the objective score a 65 and an 85 took at each of the 11 essay scores, from June 2019 to August 2026, where at an essay of 2.5 alone the 65 line has run from 16 to 20 points — is on the Global History and Geography II curve history page, with the NYSED file for each sitting.
Questions
Global History and Geography II scoring, answered
What is the raw score needed to pass the Global History and Geography II Regents?
There is no single raw score on this exam, and that is not a technicality: NYSED publishes a two-way chart rather than a list. The final score sits where the Part I and Part II Score and the Part III Essay Score meet. On the August 2026 administration a 65 took 26 points out of 35 on the objective parts if the essay scored 0, and only 11 if the essay scored 5. Any site quoting one number for this exam has flattened one of the two axes.
Why is the Global History and Geography II essay scored in half points?
Because NYSED's chart is indexed that way: the Part III Essay Score axis takes exactly 11 values — 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5 — and nothing in between. A score of 3.7 does not exist on the chart, which is why the tool above offers a list rather than a free-text box. If a combination is not on the axes, the tool says so instead of showing the nearest cell.
Can a Global History and Geography II student reach an 85 on the objective parts alone?
No — and the chart says so out loud. On the August 2026 administration, an essay score of 0, 0.5, 1 or 1.5 puts 85 out of reach entirely: even a perfect 35 on the Part I and Part II Score does not reach a final score of 85 in those columns. The lowest essay score from which 85 is reachable at all is 2. That is the single most useful thing this chart tells a student aiming high, and it is the reason the curve history page prints those cells as "out of reach" rather than as a dash.
Which Global History and Geography II administrations are covered?
17, from June 2019 to August 2026, each one a separate NYSED chart of 36 rows by 11 columns. The administrations cancelled around the pandemic — June 2020, August 2020, January 2021, August 2021, January 2022 — are absent because they were never held, and nothing is interpolated across them.
Does the Global History and Geography II chart show a performance level?
No. NYSED publishes no performance-level column on this exam's conversion charts, so none is shown. Working one out from the final score would mean inventing it.
Where does this Global History and Geography II data come from?
From the conversion chart spreadsheets NYSED publishes on nysedregents.org — 17 files for this exam alone, 6,732 cells in total, each linked from its own result in the tool above. They are re-downloaded and re-parsed automatically, and nothing is published if a checksum moves, a file changes shape, or the grid changes size. Last verified September 7, 2026.
